EVR Periyar once was reported to have commented that the tamils are barbarians and their language is barbaric. While the veracity of this statement cannot be verified, very often , I do feel that basically the tamils are rude and often cruel. A student of Indian history knows that the Chola army committed much atrocities on the Western Gangas of Talakkad (now Karnataka). Even women and children were not spared by the Chola army. In Srilanka too, the Chola army was reported to have committed such atrocities on the Srilankans, perhaps the barbaric tradition was continued by the LTTE.
I am a tamilian myself with immense love the language and tamil intellect. However, after returning to Chennai very recently after a long stay in Mumbai and Kolkatta for about 30 years , I find the Chennai people very rude and most unhelpful. The autowallas are greedy and never charge by the meter. Every one wants to cheat the other . The plumber, electrician , even the coolies are cheats. People have very low morality and sky high greed. Neighbours are too noosy and are more interested in knowing what others do.
Traffic on Chennai roads is very unorganised unlike Mumbai. Most two wheelers and even bus overtakes from left. This is not the Chennai I knew and experienced which I left decades back. Every second person is a member of some party of other particularly the ruling Dravida party which emboldens them to do anything and everything.
I MADE A MISTAKE COMING TO CHENNAI TO SETTLE DOWN . THERE IS NO HOPE FOR THIS DIRTY AND FILTHY CITY WHICH CONSISTS OF ONLY CORRUPT, SCHEMING AND RUDE PEOPLE.
